Job Description:

The Sunlight Centre is seeking a dedicated and qualified Part-Time Counsellor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an accredited and experienced professional with a passion for providing counselling services to both youth and adults. The role involves delivering the Sunlight Centre therapy model, specifically designed to address the needs of clients experiencing suicide ideation and/or self-harm behaviour. Additionally, the Counsellor may engage in light research, data collection, and have the opportunity to facilitate workshops and contribute to social media development.

Responsibilities:

• Provide face-to-face counselling services to clients
• Work with individuals experiencing suicide ideation and/or self-harm behaviour.
• Utilise evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including CBT and other solution-focused modalities.
• Conduct crisis intervention when necessary, drawing upon experience in crisis areas.
• Collaborate with clients to develop and implement personalised treatment plans.
• Engage in light research and data collection to contribute to the improvement of counselling services and Sunlight Centre future research projects. 
• Facilitate workshops and contribute to social media development (optional, based on the candidate’s interest and skills).

Qualifications:

• Accredited Counsellor with relevant counselling qualifications.
• Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.
• Experience working with both youth and adults.
• Familiarity with crisis intervention and working in crisis areas.
• Proficiency in CBT and other evidence-based therapeutic styles.
• Ability to deliver the Sunlight Centre therapy model effectively.

Requirements:

• Availability for 8 hours per week (2 x 4 hour days) for face-to-face counselling in Morningside.
• Own practice insurance is required.
• Participation in provided supervision as a mandatory aspect of the role.
• Excellent skills in spoken and written English
