JOB DESCRIPTION

Opening in 2016 we have grown from a small 3 room clinic to 2 sites with large diverse spaces offering occupational therapy, speech pathology psychology/counselling. Our mission in opening was to create an inclusive space where assessment and intervention could be client and family specific rather then a one size fits all approach. To enhance this, we have built varied models of service from direct intervention to parent/family training services. These are explained further in our company information pack available on our website.

We value engagement and have built our clinical spaces to maximize our client engagement using various spaces and equipment. To maximize use of the equipment and client experience we have developed an extensive discipline specific and transdisciplinary training program which is accessible through our company learning portal.

 We have 2 sites: 

  1. The Transforming Kids Clinic covering 0 – 10 years of age in Main St Blacktown and 
  2. The T at Blacktown Mega Centre covering 10 years plus. 

But are seeking a registered psychologist or counsellor to join our team at The T which specializes in the transition from adolescents to adulthood and has a caseload of 12 and above with varied neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions. 

As part of the team, you will: 

 1. Use developmental relationship models of service (which we train you in) to provide individualised assessment and intervention within the social, emotional and cognitive reasoning domains.

2. Use modalities to suit the clients with an extensive equipment library and varied intervention spaces including our art room, library, full kitchen, varied clinical rooms and a basketball court. 

3. To use the above to create individualised service (which we train you in) so service is not just talk based and instead targets development skills and experiences to gain functional skills. 

4. Potentially be trained to run after school group programs to facilitate generalisation of skills and the development of sustained community relationships for our clients. (Potentially as it depends on your interests). 

5. Work collaboratively with our client’s teams to support goal acquisition. 

As a business we want to run as smooth as possible so we have:

  1. A 3 month initial intense training period to build your skills and capacities followed by structured ongoing training to meet your developing needs and caseload.
  2. Weekly supervision or twice weekly supervision (new graduates), with twice weekly PD groups and structured core learning topics such as communicating with clients, cognition and motor skills. 
  3. An extensive internal training portal which develops your knowledge from basic to more advanced skills whilst asking you to complete practical tasks to grow your skills theoretically and practically. 
  4. An established flow of policies and procedures which we slowly train you in, covering Admin processes, documentation and all clinical aspects. 
  5. An established caseload management system which manages your day, client load and documentation requirements. This system schedules your to do actions, keeping you up to date and well prepared for client needs. 
  6. An accounting and admin team who manage all administration and accounting processes letting you do just your clinical role. 

Our team members have a managed caseload meaning that your caseload is a maximum of 27 clients per week (full time caseload) and your day has schedule time to prepare for sessions, complete clinical notes, develop goals, complete reports and support families.

We support many local NGOs with assessments and service provision and provide a range of education seminars within our community. We value community development.

Our new team member needs:

  • A passion to work collaboratively with teens to adults
  • An appropriate degree in Social Work and registration with the Australian Association of Social Work 
  • An appropriate degree in Counselling and registration with the Australian Counselling Association or an accredited Registrant with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia.
  • Be available to work structured hours 9.15am till 6.15pm or 10am-7 pm to suit after work and school hours appointments. 

No experience is required. Our training schedule will build upon your theory and practical skills, with reduced KPIs and workload to ensure you find your feet.
