About the Opportunity

William Clarke College is seeking an experienced College Counsellor who will work with students and their families, from Preparatory to Year 12, providing valuable support, counselling and psychological assessment for students with specific needs. The role involves counselling students, assessing students’ learning and behaviour, helping families make informed decisions about their child’s education, identifying impediments to students’ learning and liaising with external agencies regarding students’ wellbeing.

This is a temporary, fixed term position commencing Term 1, 2024 until October 2024. Applications close on 8 November 2023.

About You

  • 3+ years experience as a practicing Counsellor or Psychologist (School experience will be highly regarded)
  • Experience undertaking psychoeducational, social/emotional or behavioural assessments and diagnosis
  • The ability to work sensitively with students and their families with respect to a student’s social, emotional and learning needs
  • Proven ability to problem solve and negotiate conflicting priorities
  • Excellent written, phone, verbal, face to face communication and active listening skills
  • Strong administration skills, organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to apply sound judgement, with a high degree of confidentiality
  • The successful candidate will be required to hold or be willing to obtain a valid Working with Children Check in accordance with Child Protection legislation
  • Regular practicing member of a Christian church
