About the Role:

The Sexuality and Relationships Counsellor is a distinctly unique role and one that upholds Northcott’s values in every sense. Our Sexuality and Relationship Education service supports people with disability to achieve their Sexuality & Relationship goals and desires. The position combines both counsellor and educator in its roles and responsibilities. There is potential for the role to be shared if the ideal candidates present themselves. You will be based in Wollongong with flexibility around work arrangements. Some of the main attributes of the successful counsellor will include:

  • Supporting the Sexuality and Relationships service through counselling, education, access assistance to sexual services and event facilitation.
  • Being person-centred and understanding the sensitivities around Sexuality and Relationships.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times, respecting the individual differences and needs of customers.
  • Enable a safe, secure and trusting environment for all stakeholders.
  • Assist to manage intake and co-ordination of services for the Sexuality & Relationships service.Contribute proactively to the ongoing development of professional knowledge and skills within the Sexuality & Relationships Team, across Northcott Clinical Services and Northcott as an organisation.

 

About you: 

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess or demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications – minimum Diploma in Counselling.
  • Membership with the Australian Counselling Association or as a counsellor with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia as an accredited PACFA Registrant.
  • Minimum of 2 years current and relevant industry experience in disability or health.
  • Awareness of and alignment with Northcott’s Values.
  • Genuine, demonstrated interest in the disability sector and education.
  • High level of demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • NDIS worker screening check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Working with Children’s check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current first aid certificate
  • Must have a valid drivers licence and willingness to travel as required
