JOB DESCRIPTION

The Organisation:
Centacare Family and Relationship Services (CFRS) is a non-profit community organisation that supports the strengthening of family and community relationships, particularly where there is vulnerability and disadvantage.  Our services are available to the entire community regardless of religion, circumstance, ethnicity, economic situation, age, gender or ability.

The role:
  
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Court Support Practitioner to join our Domestic Violence Assistance team based in Southport, working in the Magistrates Court.  The successful candidate will have a well-developed understanding of the impact of Domestic and Family Violence on women and children, Child Safety and Family Law.
  
This is a full time role working 38 hours per week on a fixed term contract until 30/06/2025.
Work hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant.  However, please note that some flexibility is needed in order to meet business requirements.
  
This is a great opportunity to engage with, and make an impact by providing community based Court support and assistance, provision of service information, support, safety planning, engagement in domestic violence integrated response, to assist vulnerable clients requiring assistance in domestic violence matters, ensuring safety and well-being of our clients in their diversity.
  

Essential requirements for the role:  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science from a recognised tertiary institution;
  • Eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, or similar recognised professional association;
  • Have a current Blue Card – or eligible to apply;
  • Have a current drivers licence;
  • Agree,(if offered employment, to Centacare conducting an Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check;
  • Agree to sign a statutory declaration stating that you have no overseas criminal offences;
  • Have Australian Work Rights – Australian citizenship/Visa documentary evidence is. If so, to be provided at interview (please contact us for details if needed); and
  • Proof of COVID vaccination is also a requirement for this role.

Skills and Experience:
  

  • demonstrated articulation of a well-developed practice framework for domestic and family violence and its nexus with child safety, family law, as well as skills and experience in intake, risk assessment, crisis intervention, DVO assistance and safety planning;
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in the provision of brief solution-focused counselling for women impacted by domestic and family violence;
  • well-developed understanding of Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act and Family Law Act, as well as the issues and the impacts on families engaged in these systems; and
  • Well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills.


Remuneration:

  
Remuneration for this position is paid in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, minimum level at 5.1.
  
In addition, you will have the option to take advantage of our generous salary packaging options to increase your take home pay.
