JOB DESCRIPTION

An opportunity to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team at the Dalwood Spilstead Service based in Seaforth working in tertiary care with vulnerable families and children at risk across the Lower North Shore and Northern Beaches regions. This role involves the provision of individual counselling, case management and parenting support for a case-load of vulnerable families with young children plus facilitation of parent group programs including Circle of Security and playgroup programs.

The position involves collaborative work with a range of disciplines including Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Clinical Psychology, Art Therapy, Early Childhood Education, Special Education and paediatric medical officers, as well as some multi-disciplinary group-work. Regular supervision and extensive  professional development opportunities are provided.

Employment Type: Temporary Full Time until 24 December 2024 with probable extension.

Registered Nurse : $1,290.90 – $1,812.40
Counsellor (Level 1/2) : $34.01 – $49.28
Psychologist : $1,365.31 – $2,029.47
Health Professionals : $1,292.52 – $1,872.59

What you’ll be doing
The role of the Dalwood Spilstead Family Counsellor is to co-ordinate and directly provide trauma-informed services for parents participating in the Dalwood Spilstead Service. Focus of intervention is case management, counselling and parenting support for vulnerable families. 

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Degree in Social Work Eligible for Australian Association of Social Workers membership. Degree in Psychology, or Occupational Therapy.
  2. Experience in providing counselling for vulnerable parents and adults with mental health and / or drug and alcohol problems.
  3. Sound knowledge of trauma-informed practice and the needs of vulnerable families.
  4. Current NSW Drivers Licence.
