Sonic HealthPlus is very proud to partner with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to deliver Defence Force Recruiting (DFR), helping DFR to recruit the right people to maximise Defence capability. Psychologists are required at a number of Sonic HealthPlus clinic locations across Australia for face to face services, and remotely (working from home) for virtual assessments.

Psychologists are required for Psychology Assessments – Senior Psychology Officers and Psychology Officers

Full/part-time and casual opportunities are available for employees, plus we will also consider psychologists who wish to work as a contractor / service provider (and have their own ABN).

ABOUT THE ROLE

Psychologists undertaking DFR work will ensure candidate centric services are a priority, by helping to ensure that only the best candidates are selected to join the ADF. Comprehensive training is provided, together with ongoing support including professional development opportunities. Responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting psychological assessments within a DFR structured format.
  • Conducting both face-to-face and virtual assessments.
  • Reporting to DFR personnel on the psychological suitability and aptitude of candidates for service within the ADF.
  • Providing assistance and professional advice to all staff involved in the assessment process.
  • Creating and promoting cohesion in a multidisciplinary team with all clinical and support staff.
  • Responding to complaint investigations, when required, in a timely manner.
  • Developing and driving improvement initiative in response to candidate feedback.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, including current AHPRA registration
  • A minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a clinical practice position preferred, experience including interpreting and administering a range of psychological and psychometric tests, conducting semi-structured interview and report writing is highly desired
  • Experience in electronic health records/systems
  • Previous experience with military and/or government organisations is highly desirable (e.g. ADF, Police, Customs, and Corrective Services etc.)
  • Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills that support the development of a positive workplace culture
  • Ability to mentor, and train clinicians in established processes and provide feedback in order to ensure standardised decision-making across psychologists (for Senior roles)
  • Willingness to undertake travel (confirm)
  • Willingness to complete an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance and Working With Children Check WWCC
  • National Police Clearance
  • Australian Citizen

INITIAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Training and accreditation to DFR standard is required. Successful candidates need to commit to a minimum 2 – 3 day commitment for up to 12 weeks to complete this training.
