We are currently seeking an experienced Counsellor to join our Client Services team on a Part Time (0.8) or Full Time basis. This is a fully work from home role. As a qualified Counsellor, you will provide support to people living with dementia, their families and carers, to enhance their quality of life and build self-efficacy through the provision of individual or group counselling, and other related activities.
Reporting directly to the Client Services Team Leader you will also be responsible for:
- Providing dementia specific counselling for people living with dementia, their families and carers through individual or group counselling in accordance with specified guidelines
- Providing information about dementia, available services, community and family education, and resources to carers
- Facilitating the delivery and evaluation of group education programs for people living with dementia and their carers and families in accordance with program guidelines
- Screening and assessing clients to ensure that appropriate and timely services are received
To be successful in this role you will be a team player, show an absolute commitment to the delivery of high-quality dementia services and support, and meet the key selection criteria outlined below.
Key Selection Criteria:
Registration with, or eligibility for membership of, a relevant professional body or association (e.g. Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Australian Counselling Association, Australian Association of Social Workers or Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia).
- Minimum two years counselling experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the impact of the diagnosis and progression of dementia on the person and their family
- Experience in the delivery of educational information and group programs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation skills etc.)
- Well-developed case note, record keeping and report writing skills
- Demonstrated capacity to deliver high quality presentations to a diverse community
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate speciality area such as Psychology, Social Work or Counselling
