About the role

Our vision at MacKillop Education is to ensure equity and access to learning for all children and young people who are vulnerable and disengaged from mainstream education.  

To further realize our vision, this role will be focused on continuous school improvement, building staff capacity and enhancing learning outcomes for students.   

The role will also be responsible for contributing to the establishment of new schools in order to cater to the increasing demand for the learning environment MacKillop Education provides. 

We are seeking a suitable candidate who is passionate and committed to making a difference, through education, in the lives of the children and young people we support.  

The successful candidate will bring extensive leadership experience, a deep knowledge of education and diverse skills to further develop best practice in our learning and teaching environments. MacKillop’s trauma-responsive education model, ReLATE, and relevant research and theory related to the science of learning will inform this work.    

The position will chair: 

  • MacKillop Education’s Leadership Team 
  • The National Education Colloquium  
  • MacKillop Education’s School Advisory Committee  

 

The position will: 

  • Embed and strengthen the ethos and identity of our schools and programs. 
  • Lead the development and implementation of MacKillop Education’s strategic plan. 
  • Enhance the learning outcomes for all students by ensuring our schools are providing best practice in learning and teaching. 
  • Ensure MacKillop Education provides safe, inclusive, trauma-responsive learning environments.  
  • Enhance the capacity of staff through ongoing professional learning. 
  • Strengthen and maintain strategic partnerships with system leaders and funding bodies.
  • Lead the continuous improvement in our schools, using data to assess, review and inform our programs.  
  • Oversee the school’s risk, compliance, and reporting requirements, to ensure ongoing funding and registration. 

 

This is a Permanent Full-time opportunity based in Maidstone, VIC within our Mackillop Education Program. The position reports to the Group Director, MacKillop Institute and Education.

 

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Extensive experience as a senior leader in schools and demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in their role. 

• Demonstrated an alignment with MacKillop Education’s values, ethos, and identity.   

• Demonstrated skills in strategic planning and innovation to support vulnerable children and young people through education. 

• Demonstrated a passion for and commitment to providing quality learning and teaching environments, informed by the science of learning.

• Valid and current Driver’s Licence;

• Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);

• Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
