As an allied health provider, we offer support and services to our clients either in a home environment, in a school/kindergarten setting or in our therapy rooms located in Payneham, just 10 minutes east of the CBD.
About the role
The role of Developmental Educator will be responsible for the delivery of best practice, client-centered support for our clients under the National Disability Insurance Scheme, including assessment, education, and intervention.
Working closely with our clients, their families/carers, this role requires a practical approach to work holistically across the life span to address issues which may affect the function, independence and social inclusion of our clients living with disability.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement innovative, person-centered methodologies based on current practice in the field of developmental education to assist with complex behaviour support
- Teaching functional life skills including social inclusion, communication, self-care, recreation, daily living, and employment
- Provide recommendations and therapy that impacts positively on a person’s ability to participate in their daily activities
- Working and liaising with families, service providers, other allied health professionals and community members to enhance the choice, social inclusion, and quality of life for people living with disability
- Provide written reports including recommendations to relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Helping families, caregivers and individuals living with disability to understand the impact of disability on a person’s daily functioning
To be successful in your application, you will:
- Hold tertiary qualifications in Developmental Education and/or Disability
- Have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work and communicate effectively with clients, their families, community agencies and other professionals
- Be passionate about working with people living with a disability
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience and understanding of the support needs of people living with a disability across home and community settings
- Possess excellent report writing skills in behaviour support strategies and assessments
- Be First Aid certified
- Be able to build rapport and maintain strong working relationships with clients and their families
- Have the ability to work independently within a supportive team environment
- Be a team player and contribute to a positive workplace culture
- Hold current NDIS Worker Check/National Police/DCSI Check
