Role Overview: As the DFV and Sexual Assault Women’s Counsellor, you will provide a range of specialist therapeutic counselling, case management, risk and safety interventions with women who have been affected by domestic and family violence, and sexual assault. The role scope includes direct responses to and from clients (supporting women and their children), as well as working in partnership with the Intake team, Triage and Support workers, High Risk Team and other agencies and services across community including Court.  

What You’ll Do: As a DFV and Sexual Assault Women’s Counsellor, you will offer specialist domestic and family violence and sexual assault counselling and support, including risk assessment, safety planning, case management, information and referrals. An integrated service response within a trauma-informed practice framework supporting the safety of women and their children.

To excel in this role, you will have: 

  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in the domestic and family violence and sexual violence sector. 
  • Proven experience in counselling women and children experiencing or a lived experience of domestic and family violence and sexual violence. 
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed framework and evidence-based counselling practices. 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. 
  • Collaborative spirit, able to work with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared goals. 
  • Deep empathy, sensitivity, and a commitment to social justice and supporting trauma survivors.
