Your Opportunity

The DFV Service is a Specialist Homelessness Service (SHS) who has the expertise to implement a range of best practice approaches to women and children experiencing domestic violence through service delivery within different environments, i.e. within a crisis refuge, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, or within the home of the client with the perpetrator removed.

The DFV Worker role supports women and their children residing in DVSM’s housing services. You will work alongside DFV Practitioners and the children’s services workers to support women, children and your people escaping DFV children and residing onsite.

Your Impact

• Provide daily support with routine to women and children living in DVSM’s housing services.

• Support to build positive relationships with the women and children.

• Supporting Case managers to facilitate group activities.

• Assist with attending appointments including Centrelink, health appointments etc.

• Respond to family’s mental health, safety and wellbeing needs as identified.

• Work in collaboration with the DFV Practitioners to achieve case plan goals including, assisting with completing referrals, admin tasks or liaising with key stakeholders.

• Partake on a rotating roster on on-call response for DVSM services.

What you’ll bring to the role

• Diploma in Community Services and/or Diploma in Counselling or equivalent experience

• Demonstrated experience of working in the DFV sector, family services and/or women’s services

• Knowledge and understanding of the gendered basis of DFV and the impact on women and children.

• Experience working in a team based environment

• Unrestricted NSW Driver Licence

• Working with Children Check (WWCC)
