Position Description: Director of Wellbeing and Inclusion
Status: Permanent Full Time, Reporting to the Head of Junior School
Commencement Date: January 2023
Duties and Responsibilities
The Riverina Anglican College is looking for a passionate and professional individual to fill the role of Director of Wellbeing and Inclusion. The position is responsible for the Wellbeing and Pastoral care of the Junior School Students.
Focussed on the holistic development of each student and the wellbeing of students within a collaborative and integrated learning community, the role is vital in supporting the Head of Junior School to provide a world class education to our students.
As part of the Junior School Leadership Team the role is responsible for the effective behaviour management and strategic leadership of social, physical and creative engagement of all students.
A high level of communication and interpersonal skills in creating and maintaining positive relationships with staff, parents and students is essential.
Demonstrated experience as a leader of student care and wellbeing, and/or an extensive research background in student care and wellbeing is desirable.
Wellbeing
- Inspire and drive the development of best-practice procedures and systems which support the wellbeing of Junior School students.
- Drive and model innovative, whole school approaches to student wellbeing, positive behavioural management and social-emotional learning using evidence-informed models and monitor innovations in this area.
- Lead and facilitate professional learning related to wellbeing.
- Lead Stage Coordinators and classroom teachers in providing an effective, caring, and stimulating environment where everybody takes responsibility for students feeling safe, secure, and appropriately challenged.
- Promote student belonging and connectedness through positive relationships, respect for others and opportunities for authentic student agency and voice.
- As part of the Junior School Leadership Team support;
- a high level of parent and community engagement
- the strategic direction of the School
- enrolment processes
- the planning and execution of key events, including assemblies, orientation days, parent information sessions, and presentation days
Inclusion
The Director of Wellbeing and Inclusion is responsible for ensuring best practice for Junior School students who have specific learning needs, including students with disabilities, imputed or diagnosed and gifted and talented students. In conjunction with the Coordinators of Students with Additional Needs (SWANS) and Gifted and Talented they;
- are responsible for ensuring that students are identified and personal plans are created, implemented and reviewed as needed.
- are a key liaison with parents and work closely with staff across the Junior School. The role includes working directly with students at times.
- develop and implement appropriately challenging core and enrichment programs for students with high intellectual potential.
- have knowledge of early intervention and extension programs, and experience in researching and recommending new programs
- have a deep understanding of the Disability Discrimination Act, Education Standards and the NCCD.
- are experienced in using a range of learning data and research to guide best practice in learning and teaching
- demonstrate skill and understanding in differentiating the curriculum to meet a wide range of learning needs

Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications and current NESA accreditation
- Further training and/or post-graduate qualifications in student welfare and leadership.
Experience
- Significant experience leading and managing student wellbeing matters in schools.
- Ongoing professional development in areas relevant to student welfare and wellbeing, including the
- application of behaviour policies and frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in leading challenging conversations around welfare and wellbeing.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and bring others on the journey.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high achieving staff and students.
- Experience in managing, training, coaching and mentoring staff.
