Women’s Safety Services SA (WSSSA) is a leading provider of support services for women and children experiencing domestic & family violence. THE ROLE
Our Domestic Violence Crisis Line (DVCL) is a fast paced busy and intensive telephone service, providing state-wide 24/7 crisis responses to women and their children experiencing Domestic & Family Violence.
The DVCL requires, Domestic & Family Violence Counsellors who are available to across a 24/7 roster. The successful applicant must be available to work the following fortnightly base roster, totaling 51.5 hours:
WEEK 1
Monday
7:00pm – Midnight (5 hours)
Tuesday
11:00am – 7.00pm (7.5 hours)
Wednesday
7:00pm – Midnight (5 hours)
Friday
12:30pm – 7.30pm (6.5 hours)
WEEK 2
Monday
7.00pm – Midnight (5 hours)
Tuesday
1.30pm – 9.30pm (7.5 hours)
Wednesday
11:00am – 7.00pm (7.5 hours)
Friday
12:00pm – 8:00pm (7.5 hours)
This position is initially offered on a fixed term basis until May 2024 to cover a period of parental leave.
ABOUT YOU
Use your knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence to provide information, referrals, and support to callers experiencing domestic and family violence.
Our counsellors triage, conduct risk assessments and provide a specialist crisis first response to callers seeking safety. To succeed in this exciting and demanding role you will need:
- Experience providing crisis intervention in a domestic violence or related setting;
- Understanding of risk assessments and safety management strategies;
- Strong interpersonal skills, & initiative to problem solve and initiate planned responses;
- Demonstrated experience within the specialist domestic and family violence sector or working with those who have been impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence
- The ability to do shift work to a 24/7 roster, including day, afternoon, night and weekend shifts
- A capacity to work under pressure, and at times autonomously
- A current drivers licence, and be eligible for, or hold a DHS Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance;
- Qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, and/or commensurate experience with the position
