About the Team
The 99 Steps program provides short-medium term Domestic and Family Violence response services to women living in Logan/Beenleigh. Women can self-refer or be referred into the program through internal programs, external stakeholders, and government/emergency services. The DFV Intake Officer will complete general screening of referrals and enquiries and provide advocacy and wrap around support to women linked in with our service
About You
The DFV Intake Officer will work within SSI’s 99 Steps team and provide initial brief intervention and assessment, information and advice to women requesting service. The Intake function is a critical component within the structure of 99 Steps and ensures referrals are responded to appropriately and within applicable timeframes. The main function of this position is to efficiently monitor all general enquiries and referrals received via main reception line or shared mailbox. The DFV Intake Officer will follow internal processes to screen all incoming referrals determining eligibility and prioritising service based on immediate needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the 99 Steps mailbox and respond to all emails professionally and in a timely manner.
- Manage the main reception phone and provide information about 99 steps service or complete referral to other relevant internal/external services.
- Complete initial screening and assessment of referrals to identify eligibility and main presenting risks or concerns. Triage eligible referrals into program using internal data capturing tools and communicate priority referrals in daily team huddles.
- Respond to DFV practitioner requests for brokerage support and maintain mobile phone/voucher registers and databases. Manage calendar bookings for meeting rooms and car bookings and safe phone stock ensuring phones are charged and ready for distribution.
- Prioritise completing an initial screening assessment of referrals and request additional information from referrers where required. Escalate immediate concerns to a senior worker or service delivery manager.

Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Services or related field and/or 2 years’ previous experience providing support to women experiencing Domestic and Family Violence
- Previous experience in a similar position and/or experience providing client centred services to women and children
- Previous experience in a case management role
- Previous experience completing Domestic and Family Violence safety plans/risk assessments is highly desirable.
