The Role

Our Family and Child Connect program has an opportunity for a motivated and passionate Family Response Facilitator – Domestic and Family Violence Specialist to join the team. This is a Permanent Full-time position located in Townsville.

This role is responsible for quality service delivery to children, young people, families and the community relating to Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) for our Family and Child Connect (FaCC) service. The successful candidate will be required to engage and build rapport and trust quickly with families, making an assessment of client needs and providing advice of safe engagement strategies. You will be required to complete Domestic and Family Violence screening and risk assessments and provide specialist advice to the FaCC team. You will be managing behavioural responses including conflict, professionally; this includes a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively.

This position offers a competitive salary of $93,860 to $98,108 plus superannuation (dependent on qualifications and experience). You will also have the opportunity to increase your take-home pay by salary sacrificing and other benefits (more information below).

To be eligible for this position you will require:

  • Relevant 3-year degree with at least 2 years’ previous relevant experience, or 4 year degree with at least 1 year’s previous relevant experience. 
  • Experience in working within the domestic and family violence sector and a working knowledge of the services and responses required by families.
  • An understanding and knowledge of the Queensland child protection system and issues that impact on families. 
  • An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally appropriate engagement and practice.
  • Previous experience in safety and needs assessment and planning, including application of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012.
  • Queensland Provisional Green (P2) or Open Driver Licence.
  • A positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and the ability to obtain any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
  • Evidence of current vaccination against Whooping Cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement, unless applicable exemption provided as per the relevant MC procedure.
