We are on the lookout for someone with proven experience of working within the domestic and family violence space, with the demonstrated ability to quickly build rapport and work collaboratively within diverse teams. Our ideal candidate will also have a comprehensive knowledge of the issues affecting families and individuals experiencing domestic and family violence, child abuse, suicidal ideation, and self-harm.

The CatholicCare Central Queensland and Helem Yumba Domestic & Family Violence Response program provides a range of collaborative and person-centred support interventions to adults, children and young people who are experiencing, or who are at risk of experiencing, domestic and family violence. The partnership between CatholicCare and Helem Yumba is a first for our region, ensuring that all domestic and family violence supports are provided in a culturally safe way. Primary Objective

The primary objective of the Domestic and Family Violence Support Services Team Leader is to oversee and optimize the delivery of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Support Services within the Team Leader’s region, in line with the guidelines set by the Queensland Government’s Domestic and Family Violence Investment Specifications. This will be achieved through strategic operational management, leadership, and adherence to established standards.

The role encompasses the following service areas:

• System Support – Local DFV Service Systems

• Direct Support – Case Management, Counselling including safety planning

• Court-Based Services

Key Responsibilities include:

• Facilitating the achievement of program and organisational goals within the Domestic and Family Violence Services team.

• Providing leadership to and mentoring a specialized clinical team.

• Guaranteeing service delivery in compliance with the Human Service Quality Framework (HSQF), internal policies, and the regulations of relevant authorities.

• Implementing activities within the region that uphold the strategic commitment and strategies outlined in CatholicCare’s Strategic Plan.

• Implementing efficient monitoring, reporting, and evaluation methods for the program and assessing its impact on the community.

• Overseeing service system processes, including their implementation, development, and review.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree (or postgraduate) qualification in human services

• Minimum 2 years management experience

• Desirable 5 year’s experience working in a specialist Family & Domestic Violence Service

Operational Management: Skills in managing daily operations, including resources, budgeting, reporting, and ensuring services meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders including team members, clients, community groups, and government bodies.

Crisis Management: Ability to respond effectively to crisis situations, providing guidance and support to staff, and ensuring client safety.

Counselling Skills: While not necessarily providing direct counselling, having an understanding of counselling techniques can be helpful in overseeing services and staff who do provide counselling.

Cultural Competency: Understanding and respect for diversity and the ability to provide culturally sensitive services.

Ethics and Confidentiality: Upholding high ethical standards and understanding the importance of maintaining client confidentiality.

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement: Ability to evaluate program effectiveness, apply findings to improve services, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
