About the Role
We are currently seeking applications for the permanent full time (37.5 hours per week) role of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Worker within the Stopping Family Violence program, located at our Cairns venue.
The purpose of this role is to provide group work to male perpetrators of domestic and family violence which promote the safety of the client and their family, as well as providing individual counselling on an as needs basis. It is also the purpose of this role to deliver education programs aimed at increasing community awareness about the effects of domestic and family violence.
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Assessing men for suitability in program participation, and case managing each client to ensure the safety of the client and their family
- Facilitating groups, and providing crisis intervention and individual counselling to perpetrators of domestic violence
- Providing information and support in relation to protection orders, court processes and the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act
- Developing, implementing and evaluating training and education programs within the community
- Developing and maintaining appropriate contact with police, solicitors, court staff, other counsellors and community agencies in the region to facilitate a community response to domestic violence
Work days/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant, however please note that the position holder will be required to work an evening shift which will be between the hours of 9.30am to 8pm up to once a week, with some flexibility needed in order to meet business requirements.
About You
The successful applicants
- Will possess appropriate undergraduate qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences.
- Must have experience working with clients in a group facilitation model and in individual counselling, and
- Demonstrated experience working with local networks and agencies using principles of community development.
- In addition, they must possess knowledge of current theory and practice relating to domestic and family violence and a capacity to deliver community education programs.

The salary being offered is between $80,963.63 to $87,125.54 per annum,, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation. We also offer our employees as follows:
