We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Domestic & Family Violence Specialist to join our Intensive Family Support Service on a full-time (76 hours per fortnight) fixed term contract to June 30th 2024 (with possibility of extension).
This role has responsibility for leading DFV informed practice within the service by balancing supporting frontline practitioners and their leaders in delivering DFV informed responses to families, direct client engagement, and professional development and training opportunities for the team.
You will provide specialist practice advice and guidance to a team of Intake Case Workers, Child & Family Case Workers and their Service Leaders including risk assessment, engagement strategies, session planning, coaching and mentoring, training and professional development opportunities and some direct client engagement. You will build and maintain relevant stakeholder relationships within the local community as part of the integrated service response in the region. You will also work in collaboration with the Cultural Specialist and Community Development Worker within the team, as well as supporting the day-to-day operations and the ongoing practice improvement activities of our service, as part of the leadership team.
What makes a difference for us?
The successful candidate will need a passion for working with children and families, possess relevant tertiary qualifications, supplemented by significant experience in DFV practice, and have working experience in providing services to children and families.
You will also possess the following:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and licensing requirements associated (e.g. Domestic & Family Violence Act 2012, Child Protection Act 1999)
- Knowledge and understanding of current domestic and family violence frameworks and reforms (e.g. The QLD DFV Common Risk and Safety Framework, QLD DFV Prevention Strategy 2016-2026)
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Current Drivers Licence
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
Desirable
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a DFV practitioner role, and 3 years practice lead or supervisory experience
- Safe & Together Model CORE Training
- Experience in developing and delivering professional development and training
