Domestic Violence Advocate / Case Worker Highland Recruitment Pty Ltd

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client—a provider of wide-ranging supports to women and their children impacted by domestic violence—is seeking an experienced Domestic Violence Advocate/Case Work to join their professional and dedicated team on a full time basis.
  
Essential criteria 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Child and Family Services, Youth Work or a related discipline (eg, Early Childhood or Education) 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and families
  • Demonstrated experience working with women and children who have experienced domestic violence
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting client assessments
  • Demonstrated experience in managing incidents and responding to crisis 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of trauma and the drivers and impacts of domestic and family violence 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of case work skills and principles 
  • Commitment to social justice, ethical practice, cultural diversity and EEO 
  • Demonstrated commitment to reflective practice 
  • Experience working with women and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds 
  • Competency in utilisation of IT 
  • Current NSW unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence 
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Criminal History Check clearance 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills

Desirable criteria 

  • Experience in child protection work 
  • Experience working with Aboriginal women and their families 
  • Understanding of childhood development 
  • Knowledge of the domestic violence and child and family service systems in the Wingecarribee catchment area
  • Knowledge of current best practice approaches to child welfare and domestic violence 
  • Qualifications or experience in Early Childhood Education or Youth Work
