Domestic Violence Resource Centre Coordinator
Jenny’s Place Inc. is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and energetic person to join our passionate team dedicated to supporting women and children experiencing Domestic and Family Violence.
Jenny’s Place is a Not for Profit organisation providing Specialist Domestic Violence Services with the Newcastle Domestic Violence Resource Centre (NDVRC) as well as crisis and transitional accommodation and support, early intervention and prevention programs, outreach support and community education as a Specialist Homeless Service (SHS)
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced worker to join an established team in this specialist domestic violence support position. The successful applicant will be equipped to not only lead a team but to work with women and children experiencing Domestic and Family Violence providing individualised Co-case management and support across all aspects of case management such as safety and exit planning, assistance to obtain Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders, court support, referrals and building strong collaborative partnerships with other services. This role also includes community education, delivering domestic and family violence training programs to businesses and community groups, promotion of the service and fundraising activities, all of which may, at times, require after hours work.
This is a fulltime time position 38 hours per week working Monday to Friday (with afterhours work as required)
Selection Criteria:
Essential
1. Tertiary qualifications in welfare or associated field minimum diploma level
2. Substantial experience in providing case management to women who have experienced domestic violence including demonstrated experience in trauma and mental health interventions
3. A sound knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of Domestic and Family Violence, the impact on women and children and support and referral needs that may exist
4. Demonstrated senior practitioner level communication skills, liaison, negotiation and advocacy skills
5. Demonstrated skills and experience in providing supervision, professional education activities, service planning and quality improvement activities and working towards achieving the Strategic Plan goals.
6. Experience in developing and delivering Community Education /Training.
7. Experience in forming and maintaining collaborative partnerships
8. Competent computer skills and ability to adapt to new IT systems.
9. WWCC, National Criminal record Check, Full vaccination certificate against COVID 19
10. Being female is a genuine Occupational Qualification to offer appropriate service to women and children under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act.
11. Current NSW Driver’s licence and live within 60km of Newcastle
Conditions are per Social, Community, Home Care and Disability (SCHADS) award Level 6
