What you’ll be doing
To provide drug and alcohol case management and counselling to MERIT and Drug Court clients within the Forensic Drug and Alcohol Service of NSLHD. The goal of the program is to reduce the drug use and related criminal activity, as well as improving health and social functioning of clients.
Clinicians will be involved with assessment, counselling, case management and treatment co-ordination of clients referred to the programs. Clinician will also be responsible for providing written and oral reports to the court as required.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
- Recognised qualifications suitable for a mental health professional, such as Psychologist, Social Work and Counsellor with current registration through the relevant Professional Board of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Demonstrated professional competency including ability to assess and deliver a broad range of psychosocial treatment interventions to people with drug and alcohol problems
- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary, evidence-based methods of drug and alcohol treatment and highly developed knowledge and application of case management principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals.
- Demonstrated commitment to a harm minimisation approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, liaison with a range of agencies and departments, and negotiation skills; report writing skills, high-level organisation skills and ability to utilise computer-based applications
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and able to be flexible, work across various sites and adapt work practices to suit circumstances with a demonstrated ability work within a multi professional team.
