What you’ll be doing

Provision of a high quality, specialist intake, assessment, treatment and referral service for clients and 
family/significant others in the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) affected by drug and alcohol use by facilitating movement of clients in a continuum of care from initial engagement, through treatment, to aftercare. 

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications relevant to counselling and appropriate registration, as required.
  2. Demonstrated experience in providing therapeutic counselling and case management to individuals who are affected by drug use, utilising a range of evidence based interventions
  3. Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the harm minimisation approach to drug use.
  4. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  5. Demonstrated capacity to conduct assessments and develop and deliver collaborative treatment plans with clients with alcohol and other drug problems.
  6. Ability to facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups
  7. Demonstrated ability to work within and contribute to a multidisciplinary team.
  8. Current NSW Driver’s Licence
