Assess and treat Drug & Alcohol and mental health issues. This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Psychologist to exercise and boost their skills in a Telehealth role.
The Role
You will provide psychological support services to persons with substance abuse issues in our Immigration Detention centre clinic at Villawood, NSW. Key responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based psychological services through assessment, case formulation and case management, structured interview techniques and therapeutic interventions
- Triage urgent (or other) referrals; conduct D&A assessments; follow-up persons with severe and enduring D&A issues
- Identify, assess, and follow up persons at risk; ensure D&A protocols are followed and for people deemed to be ‘at risk’, of withdrawals or overdose, ensure that their needs are met in a timely and appropriate manner
- Ensure high standards of psychological care are delivered through individual sessions or in group therapy; administration of psychometric instruments and self-report measures etc
- Ensure that documentation is accurate, precise, and concise
- Provide clinical reports to internal and external stakeholders at the appropriate scheduled intervals or when required

Requirements
- Full working rights in Australia and current general APHRA registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Minimum of 3 years post registration experience and experience with working with patient with substance abuse issues
- History of providing supportive, therapeutic counselling techniques associated with Psychology degree
- Skills in D&A assessment and intervention (motivational interviewing, CBT, Mindfulness strategies) and MH risk assessment
- SMART Recovery facilitator – highly desirable or willing to obtain
- Current First Aid/BLS certificate or willingness to obtain
