JOB DESCRIPTION

Advertised Position: Allied Health Professionals; Behaviour Support Practitioner, Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and/or Social Workers. 

Location: North Brisbane, South Brisbane, Ipswich, & Gold Coast 

Desired Start Date: October 2022

The role begins on a casual basis for the first 3 months of employment working up to 38 hours then moving over to permanent full time.

Positive Moods delivers an extensive range of therapeutic supports including Improved Daily Living, Positive Behaviour Support, Early Childhood Intervention, and Psychology services to NDIS registered participants across Australia. We are experiencing exponential growth and we are looking to expand our professional teams. 

About this role

The successful candidate will provide evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support and intervention services for children, young people and adults with disability.

  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to prepare high quality written reports, and other documentation as required.
  • Knowledge of current best practice interventions and of Strength-Based and Child and family-centred practice.
  • Experience in working within a multi-disciplinary professional team to plan, develop and deliver a combination of individualised interventions for children and young people with significant and often highly complex therapeutic needs.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in partnership with people with a disability, their families, and support networks to deliver a range of specialist services.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • A sound understanding of person-centred thinking, the principles of NDIS and the National Disability Services Standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a clinical case load of 5 billable hours per day.
  • Integrate speech pathology, occupational therapy or other allied health services with other Positive Moods services to support a multi-disciplinary approach. This includes liaising with and engaging in decision making, client reviews, planning sessions, and other appropriate meetings.
  • Conduct ongoing review and evaluation of interventions to maximise outcomes for clients and families and to enable the most effective use of resources.
  • Work and liaise with carers and families, service providers and community members to enhance the quality of life and choice for children, young people and adults with disabilities.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality and nurture relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments
  • Develop Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Train and Implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Directly monitor implementation of plans.
  • Monitor the use of Restrictive Practices.
  • Use evidence-based interventions.

Note: this role requires you to travel to client locations, up to 30 minutes from your home location.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Qualification in related discipline.
  • Ability to meet the Positive Behaviour Support capability framework at the core level or above.
  • Current driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.
  • National Police Check.
  • Relevant state clearances, e.g., Working with Children’s Check.
  • Previous work experience in psychology or related fields (ideal but not essential).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NDIS (ideal but not essential).
  • Fully vaccinated from COVID-19 or an exemption note (QLD mandate).
