About the Role

The Geelong Project (TGP) works within a youth focused family centred paradigm based on early intervention practices; it forms part of the Community of School & Services model (CoSS). The Early Intervention Response Worker works with students and their families in Greater Geelong. TGP works to address risk factors leading to youth homelessness, youth offending and school disengagement, and develop protective factors that will enable young people to develop aspirations, make pro social connections and engage in a pathway that will lead to productive, healthy and safe lives.

The key objectives of this role are:

  • Provide a range of short-term interventions (such as case management, single session therapy, mediation etc.) to divert young people and families from crisis services
  • Identify and implement conflict resolution and communication strategies for use by young people and their families
  • Support the coordination and implementation of the Australian Index of Adolescent Development (AIAD) at-risk screening tool across participating schools
  • Provide intake and assessment into The Geelong Project (TPG) within the school setting
  • Co-facilitate and at times develop group work

  • Part-time position, working 22.8 hours per week
  • Fixed term to 30 June 2024
  • $94,077 p/a (pro rata) + super + salary packaging

About You

  • Qualification or equivalent in Youth, Social Work or Community Welfare (Diploma+) and experience in client services functions.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in delivering risk and needs assessments, case management, client advocacy, and therapeutic interventions in line with Best Interests Framework for case practice.
  • Ability to form a sound ecological perspective of client circumstances, with minimal information to rapidly determine required support using the appropriate tools.
  • Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture
