About the facility

The Barwon Health Eating Disorder Service is a specialist multidisciplinary team providing assessment and treatment to young people (0-25 years) and their families presenting with an eating disorder, or at risk of an eating disorder. The team is located within the Child and Youth Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol program.

The service is a leader in the delivery of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and collaborative models of care including Family Based Treatment (FBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy- Enhanced (CBT-E), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Multi-family Therapy (MFT), Collaborative Care Skills Workshop for carers and Motivational Interviewing. There is a strong focus on secondary consultation to the broader service, public and private sectors.

About you

  • Experience in a child and adolescent mental health setting
  • High level clinical skills related to the assessment and management of children and young people experiencing eating disorders
  • Specialist training in assessment and evidence-based treatments for eating disorders
  • Sound conceptual knowledge of the principles of service integration and shared care
  • Experience working with individuals with eating disorders and their families
  • Current Victorian driver’s licence

About the role

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will participate in the assessment and delivery of evidence-based treatment to individuals and their families presenting with an eating disorder. Additionally, you will also provide primary and secondary consultation to the broader service in relation to eating disturbance or disorder. Duties of your role include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking regular mental state examination and risk assessment
  • Maintaining effective and timely communication with other health providers involved in the young person’s care
  • Documenting and clinically reviewing client care within usual team processes and procedures in the client medical file
