MacKillop Education is a Catholic Specialist P-12 School that comprises of three school campuses; Geelong, Maidstone and Caulfield. It caters for children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. The students referred to MacKilllop have a history and/or ongoing experience of trauma and their needs are complex and diverse; self-regulation is difficult for our students and this can result in challenging social and emotional behaviours.
We have a Permanent Full-time opportunity available based in Caulfield, VIC within our MacKillop Education Program.
About the role:
The Education and Wellbeing Coordinator will implement, in the classroom and across the programs a trauma-informed model of education that promotes unconditional positive regard for young people with complex and diverse needs. The coordinator will work collaboratively and provide expert educational advice and wellbeing support for the team and education leaders.
The Education and Wellbeing Coordinator leads the Wellbeing Team, including the development and implementation of the Wellbeing Strategic Plan at MacKillop Education Geelong.

Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
- Have a proven capacity for innovation and a commitment to excellence
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement curriculum and education programs to meet the needs of students with complex needs; including an understanding of the impact of trauma and its effect on the capacity of young people to engage with education and learning
- Understanding of the interface between the education and welfare/community service sectors
