Education Officer – Student Wellbeing and Professional Support Brisbane Catholic Education

  • Salary commencing at $124,675 – $138,521 + Super + Professional Development
  • Full time continuing | Hybrid flexible working arrangements

The Education Officer – Student Wellbeing & Professional Support is a full-time role based in the BCE Woolloongabba in the Student Wellbeing team and providing support as Co-Director of the QUT Caroline Chisholm Centre. The purpose of the role is to provide specialised advice and professional services and support in the area of Student Wellbeing through working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders in accord with policies, regulations and guidelines and the BCE Office strategic plan. The role operates to assist in the development of capability at system and school levels in relation to student wellbeing and hence achievement, irrespective of background or circumstance. You will provide specialist services in learning and teaching congruent with the values and beliefs about learning as expressed in BCE Learning Framework and the Learning and Teaching Policy.

In this role, you will provide three key functions:

1. Verifier in the Education Adjustment Program (State) for the disability areas of Intellectual Disability and Social Emotional Disorder (0.4 FTE) – must be a psychologist

2. Assessment Quality Assurance including psychoeducational assessment training, test kit library, coordination of psychoeducational quality assurance and membership of the Assessment Quality Assurance committee (0.2 FTE) – must be a psychologist

3. Based at QUT Caroline Chisholm Centre, you will act as Co-Director of the QUT Caroline Chisholm Centre (0.4 FTE) with responsibilities for the joint management of the Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology program, in which psychology interns work under the supervision of Guidance Counsellors in BCE schools. To be successful in this role – you must be an endorsed Educational & Developmental psychologist (0.4FTE)

About the role:

  • Support the professional learning and professional practice of Guidance Counsellors in schools as part of the broader Student Wellbeing team
  • Support QUT interns placed in BCE schools under the supervision of Guidance Counsellors
  • Contribute to the Strategy, Policy, and Innovation services of Learning and Teaching
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues and across teams to provide a seamless and coordinated service to schools to improve learning opportunities for students.
  • Provide specialised advice and support in the maintenance of best practice in psychoeducational assessment and reporting that facilitates positive outcomes for students
  • Provide professional support in the area of verification of students with disabilities in the categories of Intellectual Disability (ID) and Social Emotional Disorders (SED).
  • Through partnership with the Caroline Chisholm Centre, contribute to the professional learning and resourcing of the QUT Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental).
  • Contribute to the culture and work of the BCE according to Brisbane Catholic Education policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Qualification in Educational and Developmental Psychology and endorsement as an Educational and Developmental Psychologist.
  • Current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (essential).
  • Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers (desirable).
  • Completion of Supervisor Training & Approval Program (STAP).

About you: To be successful in this role you will demonstrate

  • Experience in Guidance Counselling or Student Wellbeing.
  • Broad experience in a variety of educational settings in the delivery of Student Wellbeing services.
  • Experience in psycho-educational assessment and psychology.
  • Knowledge of EAP processes for Social Emotional Disorders and Intellectual Disability.
  • Experience working collaboratively with others across multiple settings to achieve specific outcomes.
