Educational Psychologist, commencing Term 1 2024
The Educational Psychologist works in close collaboration with the Heads of School, the pastoral care teams and the Careers and Guidance Counsellor. The position emphasises the value that the School places on the development of a safe, supportive and collaborative environment that is student focused.
The primary purpose of the position is to support the emotional and psychological wellbeing of students in Reception to Year 12 and to provide counselling at a general level and make referrals to external clinical psychology services as required.
The Educational Psychologist will also provide specialist educational psychology services and support learning needs and develop specific educational strategies to support students and teachers.
The successful candidate will have:
- Fully registered Psychologist with AHPRA
- Professional membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS)
- Professional membership of the Queensland Association of Student Advisers (QASA) would be an advantage
- Experience in a school counselling setting preferred
- Training in educational and developmental psychology would be advantageous
- Understanding of current theory and research relating to the education of boys and young men
- Outstanding professional presentation and manger
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- High-level administrative and organisational skills
- Ability to liaise professionally with staff, students, parents and external practitioners
- Demonstrated experience in dealing appropriately and calmly with highly confidential and sensitive information
- Current working rights for Australia
Please note: Continuous annual registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA is essential
