What you’ll do
You’ll be a key part of the Let’s Talk Elder Mediation & Support Service. You’ll provide skilled mediation and casework support to older people, their families and support networks. You’ll work with the team to raise awareness of issues faced by older people and their families. You’ll respond to identified needs by working effectively with relevant parties to achieve meaningful outcomes for older people.

What you’ll do
You’ll be a key part of the Let’s Talk Elder Mediation & Support Service. You’ll provide skilled mediation and casework support to older people, their families and support networks. You’ll work with the team to raise awareness of issues faced by older people and their families. You’ll respond to identified needs by working effectively with relevant parties to achieve meaningful outcomes for older people.
In addition, you’ll
- Providing a range of interventions to older people, their family members and relevant support people who are experiencing (or at risk of experiencing) conflict and who need support
- Interventions include mediation and therapeutic conflict management strategies to reach agreement and outcomes with respect to family conflict and dispute, ageing and age-related issues
- Providing professional intake which includes assessment of the needs of elders, their families, and other participants; screening for eligibility and suitability; and ensuring safety for clients and staff
- Providing information to clients and making referrals to and from RANSW services and other related community services
The details:
- Contract until 30th June 2023
- 3 or 4 days a week
- Based at Macquarie Park
- $42 – $47 per hour plus super
What you’ll bring
- Qualifications in a relevant field and extensive experience in mediation and working with families
- Current Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) registration with the Australian Government Attorney General’s Department as well as Elder Mediation Training (or willingness to undertake training) OR Accredited mediator under the National Mediation Accreditation System (NMAS) as well as Elder Mediation Training (or willingness to undertake training)
- Sound awareness of the issues facing older people and their informal support networks
- Experience working in a team and office environment, multi-tasking and prioritising work for self and others
- Competence in using computer technology to support practice, including recording session notes, capturing case data and reporting
- Capacity to develop and maintain effective professional and influential working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
