About the job…

We are seeking a full-time Engagement and Referral Practitioner to join our friendly team in Cairns until 31 March 2024 with possible extension.

The position works within the Family and Child Connect service to provide active engagement and referral for support to vulnerable families where there are child protection concerns, including conducting cold calls and appointments with non-consenting clients.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain a case load of client families and identify family needs using specified tools.
  • Successfully engage families in a timely manner and gain their consent to refer into appropriate services.
  • Make effective referrals for client families to meet their identified needs.
  • Develop and maintain professional and ethical work practices.

About you…

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (social work, human services, allied health).
  • Professional registration (if required) and membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
  • At least two (2) years’ experience working within the child protection framework.
  • Ability to identify family and individual client needs using a child-centered approach.
  • Ability to identify child protection concerns.
  • Ability to quickly and respectfully build rapport and gain family trust and consent to enable referral to other services.

About the pay…

  • Position is classified Level 4 under the SCHCADS award.
  • Salary range is $82,046 – $88,288 plus superannuation.

Other Requirements….

  • Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
  • Current driver’s licence.

  • Fully vaccinated with the prescribed doses of an approved vaccine against COVID-19 or have an approved medical exemption.
