About the job…

We are seeking a full time Engagement and Referral Practitioner to join our caring, compassionate, and friendly team in Mackay until 30 August 2024 with possibility for part-time extension.

This role is about providing active engagement and referral support to vulnerable families where there are child protection concerns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a case load of client families and provide short term intervention (maximum of 6 weeks intervention period).
  • Identify and respond to child protection risk and conduct needs assessments with families and children.
  • Successfully engage families in a timely manner and gain their consent to refer into appropriate services.
  • Discuss child protection concerns and complete necessary safety planning with families and children.

About you…

  • A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services).
  • Membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
  • At least 2 years’ experience working within the child protection field.
  • Ability to identify family and individual client needs using a child-centred approach.
  • Ability to identify and respond to child protection concerns.
  • Ability to have discussions around safety and complete appropriate safety planning with children and parents.
  • Cultural awareness and an understanding of how to communicate and work effectively with families from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and LGBTIQA+ communities.

About the pay…

  • Position is classified Level 4 under the SCHADS award.
  • Salary range is $82,046 – $88,288 per annum plus superannuation.

  • Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
