Enhancing Mental Health Support in Schools Clinician / Youth Assessment & Intake Worker

Part Time 0.8 EFT, Ongoing

Required days of work: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

This is a fantastic, ongoing opportunity for an experienced youth mental health worker to join our headspace team working as the Enhancing Mental Health Support in Schools Clinician / Youth Assessment & Intake Worker in the Ballarat region!

About the Role

As the Enhancing Mental health Support in Schools Clinician you will be responsible for providing mental health support and services to Victorian Government Secondary Schools in the Ballarat Region, and providing assessment and referral services and where appropriate Brief Treatment Intervention Sessions to students from 12-19 years of age (Years 7-12).

You will be required to travel to outreach locations such as Maryborough, Beaufort and Daylesford as required where you will focus on the identification of, increased support for and improved response to young people presenting with mild to moderate mental health concerns.

Your role as a Youth Assessment & Intake Worker will be responsible for engaging with clients aged between 12-25 entering the headspace Ballarat Centre, providing initial intake, clinical assessments and supporting clients to engage with the headspace program.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will need to have the following:

  • A tertiary qualification and experience in Psychology, Mental Health Social Work, Mental Health Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or other Allied Health (with Mental Health Accreditation is essential) 
  • At least 2 years post graduate clinical experience
  • Well-developed knowledge of adolescent and young adult developmental stages
  • Relevant intake, assessment, referral and case management experience
