The Y Canberra Region has been part of the Canberra community since 1941, growing side by side with our local people, families, youth and community. Over the years, our programs and services have diversified into what we offer today from recreation to youth, accommodation to children services.
The Executive Manager, Social Impact and Safeguarding is an important member of the Senior Leadership Team, and will work closely with the Executive Manager, Children Services and Executive Manager People and Culture and all Business Unit and Corporate Managers to grow our business, develop our organisational capability, increase our social impact, and ensure we have an organisational culture that champions children and young people’s safety and wellbeing.
Qualifications required:
-Tertiary education in Early Education and Care, Education, Community Development, Social Work, Psychology, Social Welfare, Social Science and/or depth executive equivalent experience
–Workplace Investigations Training
-Current Driver’s License
-WWVP Card (ACT) and WWCC (NSW)
What will be expected from you:
-Support Y Canberra Region association to deliver on our 2030 global mission, vision, values and strategic pillars
-As a key Senior Executive, lead with positive impact and influence across the organisation
-Work in collaboration with the CEO and Senior Leadership team and other important partners and stakeholders, including our Youth Reference Group (YRG), to strengthen our overall business sustainability, evidenced-based program quality, and positive social impact across the Canberra region
-Build the staff and management capability and support and advise all Y People to understand and comply with all Safeguarding requirements and ensure a strong Safeguarding culture is embedded
-Ensure incident process is effective and is applied to all incidents
-Engagement with business, embeds strong Safeguarding culture, compliance with requirements, continuous improvement focus and helps inform good decision making
-Safeguarding, Accommodation and Health and Recreation teams have high employee engagement, established succession planning and meets their annual business objectives
-As per Safeguarding Children and Young People Licensing Standards:
Standard 1.3 – Member Ys appoint and support a designated Safeguarding Lead to enable their Y People to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities
