As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will deliver best-practice, person-centered support to people who use challenging behaviours. In this rewarding role you will build long term relationships with people and their support networks as you help them to create a vision for a life without restrictions and with positive interactions, activities and experiences.
Working with people of all ages and achieving outcomes for greater quality of life and less restriction. You will complete our industry leading PBS training programme and ongoing development programme.

We have also embedded reflection days into our programme because we know that in order to deliver a world class service, learning development and the wellbeing of our practitioners must be prioritised.
As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will:
- Ensure all PBS practices and interventions are compliant with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards, NDIS Restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support Rules 2018, Services Agreement and Everyday Independence’s Code of Conduct.
- Use research evidence and professional reasoning when recommending the most appropriate PBS therapy strategies, duration, location, and timing.
- Identify and develop efficient processes and systems within the delivery of PBS services.
- Develop effective and strong working alliances with people and their families to identify factors affecting a working alliance, and repair breakdowns in a timely way.
- Enhance the capacity of people to make their own life choices and increase their independence.
- Approach risk in a positive way to achieve quality of life outcomes, whilst ensuring that safeguards are in place to maximise the rights of people and protect the most vulnerable.
Your Everyday
If you were here last week these are some of the things you may have done:
- Written an Interim Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) and had the BSP authorised by your State/Territory. You would have then trained the team on the use of the restrictive practice and fade out strategies.
- Supported a person in their natural environment such as their day program, local gym, at the shops to bring your client’s hopes and dreams to life.
- Attended peer group supervision/mentoring and internal supports to help grow your expertise and skills
- Completed online learning through our LMS system where you would have learnt about Functionally Equivalent Replacement Behaviours and Teaching Strategies.
- Participated in a weekly team meeting and contributed thoughts, ideas and solutions
- Completed reflective practice to develop evidence-based plans
- Worked collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Shared a joke and a laugh with colleagues and maybe attended a hub social event

To be successful in this role, you will:
- If you’re an Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse, be AHPRA registered
- If you’re a Social Worker, hold a full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
- If you’re a Developmental Educator, hold a current membership with DEAI
- Have been deemed suitable, or willing to obtain suitability, as a Behaviour Support Practitioner by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
- Be passionate allied health professionals with a strong advocacy for removing barriers using the social model of therapy
- Show empathy and understanding, while being open and non judgemental
- Be driven to see high impact outcomes in people’s lives
- Be able to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check & Working with Children’s Check
- Hold a valid drivers licence
