Biyani House Women’s Shelter is a crisis accommodation service for women with or without dependent children, who are experiencing homelessness due to domestic violence, or other issues. Biyani House Team consistently work together to create an environment conducive to healing and empowerment.
Biyani House prides itself on providing a safe, confidential environment for support, advocacy, assistance and empowerment at a time when women and children need it the most.
Various shifts are available, salary dependent on experience starting from SCHADS 2.1 with 25% loading if staff are employed on a casual basis.
Caseworkers are required to do morning, afternoon or evening shifts and may sometimes cover shifts on the weekends.
An understanding of the homelessness sector, awareness around current issues and practice in domestic violence and good knowledge of housing pathways are key skills for this role.
Essential criteria:
- Diploma or higher education in Community Services or related field, or relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience within the community services sector especially with CALD and Aboriginal clients.
- Sound knowledge of domestic and family violence and its impact on victim/survivor, children and community
- Demonstrated understanding of a case management framework and client-centric practice
- Availability across day, evening and weekends sometimes. On-call is a regular component of the weekly roster.
- Proven Ability to screen and assess risk
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to use online case management systems like CIMS
- Current first aid certificate or capacity to acquire one before commencement
- Current NSW Drivers License
- Working with Children and Police Check
