About the role:
Anglicare are seeking experienced child, youth and family counsellors to join our dynamic team in rewarding and fulfilling roles. You will be supporting children, youth and families to enhance personal well-being and other outcomes for children and young people. Roles may be based at Anglicare sites and/or local school sites. School counsellors will work with school teams to better understand and manage student mental health issues with a view to improving student outcomes. You will be an integral part of a school’s pastoral care support and will provide counselling and group work with students, liaise with families, school staff and external agencies to maximize educational and wellbeing outcomes for students.
Key Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Ensure that counselling and groupwork is directed at enhancing the child and young person’s capacity for achieving personal well-being and sustaining valued relationships by providing a professional and therapeutic counselling service, with focus on safety and well-being of children.
- Ensure that the best possible outcome for children and young people is achieved through assessment, appropriate interventions, and by establishing strong network links within the local area in order to refer to relevant services for ongoing support.
- Liaise and work collaboratively with parent/carers and staff to identify support needs of children and young people.
- Ensure that the service is known amongst the community and participate in local networks and relevant community activities as required.
- Maintain appropriate client documentation and statistical information to ensure that documentation meets organisational, legislative and funding requirements.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in social work, Psychology or Counselling is essential
- Training and clinical experience in counselling children and young people
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Previous demonstrated experience in assessment and counselling
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Membership, of appropriate professional body (AASW, APS or organizations registered with PACFA)
- Current NSW Drivers Licence
- Ability to support and promote the Christian Mission and Values of Anglicare
- Valid Working with Children Check
- COVID-19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement unless assessed exempt
