JOB DESCRIPTION

Due to the expansion of services, Domestic Violence Action Centre (DVAC) is looking for suitably qualified people to fill various roles including graduates, specialists, and Team Leaders. DVAC provides support for individuals affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence in the Ipswich, Toowoomba, and surrounding regions. 

DVAC is experiencing an exciting period of growth, and all roles attract generous professional development initiatives. Relocation assistance considered for the suitable Toowoomba Team Leader applicant.  

WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • An understanding the nature, drivers, and context of domestic, family and sexual violence and trauma.
  • Ability to uphold dignity and value through healing-centred engagement.
  • Ability to manage risk, prioritise safety, and recovery.
  • Work as part of an integrated system
  • Demonstrate a reflective and self-aware approach.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Possession of relevant tertiary qualifications in the human services field.
  • Proven experience and skills in leadership and management of staff (Team Leader roles)
  • Well-developed experience and skills in counselling and therapeutic support.
  • Experience and skills in gender-based violence risk assessment, trauma informed practice, safety planning, crisis support and system advocacy. 
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high ethical standards and integrity in all working relationships. 
  •  Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions in a timely manner and escalate as appropriate. 
  •  Current driver’s license and Blue Card 
  • COVID vaccination/exemption 
  • All DVAC staff are required to complete a National Police Check upon successful offer of position.
