  • Fixed term until 30 June 2025| Full time or Part time

About the Position 

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect (formally Grampians Family and Carer-led Centre) will operate across the Grampians region through a partnership with Ballarat Community Health and Grampians Community Health.  Families, carers and supporters seeking information, advice, referral and peer support will be able to access Centre-based services, receive outreach support and support through telephone and other virtual platforms. The establishment of family and carer-led centres, now known as Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect, is a key part of the Victorian Mental Health Reforms.

 

We are seeking enthusiastic Family and Carer Peer Support Workers for fixed term opportunities in the Ballarat area, fulltime or part time. You will bring family/carer lived or living experience to provide authentic, peer-led support and assistance to family and carers. As a team you will deliver services utilising a relational recovery approach, trauma informed practice and peer support.

 

Please be advised that roles are being advertised concurrently in partnership with Grampians Community Health. If you have applied for this role within both organisations please note that your application will be managed independently by each respective business.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Lived or living experience as a family member, carer or supporter of someone who is experiencing, or has experienced mental ill-health and/or substance use challenges.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Community Services, or other professional field designated by Mind are preferred, and/or equivalent experience in a similar industry.
  • Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/or Advanced training will also be considered as an alternative to tertiary qualifications.
  • Candidates who do not have either of these qualifications but have significant experience in providing support and advocacy from a family/carer perspective, are very welcome to apply and training and development opportunities can be discussed.
