About the position…
We are seeking a full time Family and Child Therapist to join our team in Rockhampton until 31 May 2024.
This job is about providing high quality therapeutic interventions for children and young people within the Individual Support Services Program.
The Individual Support Services (ISS) program works in partnership with Child Safety to provide holistic trauma-informed support to children in the child protection system. The ISS team works in close collaboration to deliver bespoke support packages informed by each child’s needs and focuses on increasing the capacity of their support network to meet these.
Key responsibilities:
- Enhance psychosocial and developmental outcomes for children and young people impacted by trauma.
- Work with ISS team members, other professionals, and agencies to enhance client outcomes.
- Encourage and strengthen supportive relationships with adult caregivers.
- Build and maintain partnerships with all ISS and partner agencies for the benefit of the service, children, and families.
About you…
- Tertiary degree in psychology, speech pathology or occupational therapy.
- Professional registration (if required) and membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
- At least five (5) years’ experience working therapeutically with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma or have experienced abuse and neglect, or more than five years’ experience working in similar roles.
- Experience providing individual and group therapy to children, young people, and their families.
- High level of cultural awareness and experience working with families from different cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Knowledge of family therapy frameworks and ability to apply knowledge to practice during engagement and intervention with clients individually and as a family unit (desirable).
About the pay…
- Position is classified Level 6 under the SCHCADS award.
- Salary range is $102,555 – $107,080 plus superannuation.

- Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
