Family & Community Support Worker

Permanent Part-time, 30hours/week

Additional backfill and short-term project work also available.

  1. hold a relevant qualification in Human Services, Social work, Case Management, or equivalent and possess relevant professional experience.
  2. hold an unrestricted “C” Class driver’s license.
  3. hold or be able to gain a “Working with Children Check” from the Queensland Government Blue Card Services 
  4. undergo a Police check. 

About the Tully Support Centre Inc

The Tully Support Centre Inc. (TSC) located in Tully, Queensland in the heart of the Cassowary Coast. The TSC is an incorporated, non-sectarian, non-political, non-discriminatory community-based organisation, managed by a voluntary Management Committee, elected from the community.

About the role

This role supports community members to TSC services through the Early Intervention Family Support Service and the Community Support Service.

Early Intervention Family Support Service

Provides support to vulnerable families to prevent their children from entering or re-entering the statutory child protection system.

Community Support Service

Provides short-term support to individuals and community members to effect positive change in their lives. In addition, the role delivers groups, undertakes community engagement and development activities and participates in local and regional support networks.

This position is Permanent part-time; thirty (30) hours per week under the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Industry Award 2010 as a Social & Community Services (SACS) Employee FWO Equal Renumeration Order (1st July 2023 update), Level 3, currently $36.00/hr for the term of the relevant funding. Current service agreement ends 30th of June 2028.

Additional backfill and short-term project work also available.

This position is based in Tully, providing outreach services to individuals and families from Cardwell to Kurrimine Beach.

Duties

  • Provide support, information and advocacy for individuals and families.
  • Provide structured strengths-based support for case managed clients.
  • Receive referrals, intake and assess clients for program eligibility.
  • Provide food assistance through the TSC pantry and make external referrals for additional support.
  • Develop, plan and deliver community engagement activities based on feedback from the community.
  • Support and develop social interaction and social inclusion opportunities for individuals, families and communities.
  • Participate in community events and activities representing the TSC.
  • Participate in and represent the TSC on local service networks.

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant qualification in Human Services, Social work, Case Management, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with young people, community groups, individuals, and families from a broad range of cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing a collaborative and integrated response to client needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and understanding the importance of personal and professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking community engagement and awareness raising activities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and ability to form positive working relationships.

    1. Outline your current qualification. While Tertiary or Diploma qualifications are preferred, applicants with lower-level qualifications and extensive experience may be considered.

  5. Highly developed communication skills 
    1. Outline your skills and ability to communicate and work with young people, community groups, individuals, and families from a broad range of cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  6. Accountability and Reporting
    1. Outline your experience meeting accountability, statistical and program reporting requirements.
  7. Managing a case load and competing demands
    1. Outline your ability to work independently and autonomously – to plan, prioritise and evaluate work outcomes, meet deadlines, maintain records, and prepare reports as appropriate.

  • The possession of a current unrestricted “C“ class Driver’s Licence is essential.
