Family Carer Peer Worker Level 2 Monash Health

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are recruiting for a family/carer peer worker to join our peer work team, providing support to carers and family member of consumer who have accessed our Youth Unit in Dandenong Hospital.  This role requires lived experience of caring for someone (a close friend or family member) with a significant mental illness. (Please note, this role has not been created for persons who have worked only as a carer in a paid employment capacity). 

The role will require the successful applicant to work across a 5 day Monday – Friday roster.

About The Role

Based in our Dandenong Youth Unit, you will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide valuable peer support to family members and carers of consumers during their inpatient admission and for up to 28 days post discharge.  This position will be based at Dandenong hospital, but you may be required to work across our other sites (Clayton and Casey hospitals)

About You

You will have lived experience of caring for someone with a significant mental illness, and have the ability to share your lived experience, as appropriate, to support other carers to help built understanding, hope, and resilience in line with peer support principles.
