JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you ready to work in a creative way to support families with children aged 0-12?  If yes, Early Help Family Services, may be the opportunity you have been seeking!  Early Help Family Services is a new initiative assisting families who are experiencing life challenges.  Your innovative, collaborative approach to working with families could be catalyst in their lives and help improve the developmental trajectory for children in the Brimbank/Melton area. 

Maximise your impact with targeted early support to help families navigate and access health and social systems, implement strategies to support their child/s’ development, upskill care givers and to strengthen family functioning. 

Operational management and clinical supervision are provided, plus professional development support.

Ongoing – fulltime and part time positions available

You will make a difference by

  • Empowering clients to recognise their strengths, aspirations and wellbeing goals and facilitate supportive connections into community-based programs that will help them achieve these.
  • Building the capacity of families to respond to their child’s needs through coaching, mentoring and information sharing.
  • Providing parents with group education / information sessions where they can link with peers to provide support.
  • Making timely referrals to appropriate support and specialist services identified in the care plan.
  • Providing secondary consultations to Family Services and Universal services to support the child and family’s wellbeing.
  • Collaborating with colleagues internally and externally, in developing and implementing a shared and coordinated approach to improve the child and family wellbeing.

The role is classified under the COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE (STAND ALONE SERVICES) SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE EMPLOYEES MULTI
ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 2022 SACS agreement at Level 5, Pay point 4 at $98,111 per annum pro rata or $49.65 per hour plus 11% superannuation and salary packaging benefits.

To succeed, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in social work
  • 4 years relevant experience working in partnership with families who have children aged 0-12 years.
  • Excellent motivational interviewing and holistic wellbeing assessment skills.
  • Proven experience empowering adults in a planned and structured way to improve health and wellbeing outcomes particularly with diverse and disadvantaged communities.
  • A current Victorian drivers licence and Working with Children’s Check
  • Ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders to create and maintain effective partnerships which generate improved outcomes for families.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and innovatively as well as collaborating effectively within a team environment.
