About the Role
Barnardos are looking for a Casual Family Contact Worker for the Contact, Transport & Support Team based at the Barnardos ACT Together Centre in Bruce 2617 and Downer 2602

This role will require broad availability from Monday-Sunday (shifts can be anytime between 7:30am – 5:30pm).

The Family Contact Worker will be responsible for;

  • Providing support to children and families, and facilitate contact between children and their birth family.
  • Preparing written reports in a timely and accurate manner.

About You
As a Family Contact Worker you will ideally have;

  • Qualifications in Community Welfare, Mental Health, Early Childhood, Childcare or related qualification and/or relevant experience in the field
  • Demonstrated experience in managing challenging behaviours when working with children
  • Experience in supporting parents to care for children and build strong relationships
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to prepare reports
  • Working knowledge of child development and the impacts of trauma
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development and the implications of abuse and trauma
  • Computer skills in a Windows environment and use of Microsoft Word and Outlook and other relevant software applications
  • Working knowledge of social, economic, health and cultural factors affecting client and family situations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in working with families and promoting family-centered strength-based practices.
  • Full and current driver’s licence

Salary: SCHADS 2.1

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
