Family Counsellor – Post Separation Support Marymead Child and Family Centre

JOB DESCRIPTION

About Marymead

Marymead is a well-respected, community-based, not-for-profit organisation that has provided a range of support services to children, young people and their families since 1967. Marymead now operates throughout the southern and western regional areas of NSW as well as the ACT with offices in Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Young, Moruya and Canberra. Marymead is seeking to fill a permanent full-time Family Counsellor position in our Post Separation team as outlined below.

About the position

As a Family Counsellor, within our Family Services Unit you will provide counselling services in our Assisting Responsible Care for Kids (ARCK) and Kids And Youth Are Kool post Separation (KAYAKS) programs. The ARCK program aims to improve family relationships in the best interest of children by providing therapeutic support to parents who are separated or divorced, as well as their children.

The Kids And Youth Are Kool post Separation (KAYAKS) program aims to support children and young people (CYP) five to 18 years of age, within the context of their family, to manage and enhance their relationships during and after family separation. KAYAKS helps CYP to deal with issues arising from parents’ relationship breakdown and the circumstances in which they find themselves.

As a Family Counsellor you will be trained in the interventions used in the program and be expected to follow the programs methodology accordingly. You will also be supported by a close group of clinicians with a myriad of experience as well as support from a team leader. This is a permanent full-time position and you will be primarily based at Marymead’s Narrabundah site but may provide outreach to other locations in ACT or NSW.
