JOB DESCRIPTION

Deliver a responsive, flexible and effective mediation services to the regional SA community.

The Role

The Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Service provides parents, children and significant others engaged in the separation process with an alternative way of resolving parenting and property issues, underpinned by a child focus.  The FDR process is a voluntary process of dispute resolution that is managed by an accredited FDR practitioner who guides the process of discussion, while at the same time remaining neutral and impartial to allow the parties to reach their own agreements.

This is a fixed term opportunity until 30 June 2024 (a subsequent fixed-term period may be offered subject to funding).

What you need to bring

     Essential:

  • At least 1 year experience of working as a registered Family Dispute Practitioner
  • Must be a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney-General’s Department or eligible for registration (i.e. must have completed the Vocational Graduate Diploma in FDR or equivalent)
  • Degree in Law, Psychology, Counselling or Social Work
  • Thorough knowledge of the Family Law Act and other relevant legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills
  • Efficiency in computer use including MS Office Suite
  • Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check. (previously known as ‘Child-Related Employment Screening Clearance’)
  • Ability to comply with COVID-19 vaccination requirements
  • Ability to do some work outside of standard hours when required

     Desirable:

  • Experience using Penelope electronic client management system
  • Membership with relevant professional association (eg. LEADR. NMAS, etc)
  • Experience working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse People
  • Qualified Child Consultant
