The Opportunity

The Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) is a Part Time/Fixed Term Contract role based at the Family Relationship Centre in Frankston. The FDRP delivers Family Life’s integrated model of Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) including Property Mediation and Family Relationship Services for parents, children and their extended families. 

Working with your team to deliver high quality services to families who need support due to relationship challenges such as separation and divorce. You start your day with Pre FDR-appointments with your clients, and then follow up with a Reflective Practice session with your team. Later in the day, you deliver an FDR session online, and then complete the Parenting Plan and relevant case notes. You end the day with a check in with your Team Leader, and prepare for an FRC online information session the next day. 

 

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Conducting professional intake, assessment, referrals and case noting.
  • Facilitate/Co-facilitating FRC groups both online and in person.
  • Providing FDR, Property Mediation, Child Inclusive sessions and case coordination services to families both online and in person.
  • Ensuring that the needs and safety of the families take priority at all times.
  • Conducting on-going risk assessments and developing safety plans to mitigate risk and ensure safety.
  • Delivering services to quality standards, complying with relevant legislation and contractual requirements.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries, documentation and administrative systems according to program and legislative requirements, including planning and documentation of group and community education programs.
  • Participating in regular supervision and reflective practice groups.
  • All duties as per outlined by the line management.

 

Our Ideal Candidate

You will have a tertiary degree in Social Work, Law or Psychology, Masters of Counselling or related field. You will be qualified to register as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Department of Federal Attorney General’s office. Additional postgraduate qualifications and training in areas such as counselling, family therapy, child inclusive practice, and property mediation are strongly desirable. 

You will have demonstrated experience with family separation and Family Law issues, working with multidisciplinary teams to provide a high level of performance and innovation, preferably relating to Family Relationship/Family Support areas. You will have experience in undertaking intake and assessment, and working effectively with parents individually and in small groups, who have experienced high levels of conflict. You will have strong skills working with and understanding the developmental needs of children, who have experienced trauma and abuse. 

A working knowledge of the complexities of Family Violence is needed for this role. You will also have Information technology skills, including proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Office and Google suite, and client management systems.
