Upper Murray Family Care (UMFC) is here to help people from all walks of life – from advice on early childhood development to support for older people and their carers, with many options in between and currently have an opportunity for a Full-time Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. With your skill and experience, you will provide a range of high-quality child-focused interventions to families who are experiencing conflict following separation. Additionally, you will provide intake, assessment, referral, advice and support for clients seeking assistance from UMFC Family Relationship Services under the jurisdiction of the Family Law Act. We are seeking applications from Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners with the following experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Law, Social Sciences or equivalent and current or imminent accreditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney General’s Department.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in:
- the application of relevant evidence-based theories and techniques.
- screening, assessing and responding to family violence, child abuse, mental health and substance misuse issues.
- delivering dispute resolution, family law and/or mediation with families and children.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:
- the Family Law Act 1975, the child and family service system and the legal system relevant to separating families
- the impact of high/ongoing conflict on parents and children experiencing family separation.
