JOB DESCRIPTION

Centacare Specialist Family Support Services is a non-profit community organisation that supports the strengthening of family and community relationships, particularly where there is vulnerability and disadvantage.  Our services are available to the entire community regardless of religion, circumstance, ethnicity, economic situation, age, gender or ability. The role:

We are currently seeking a Family Law Pathways Networks Project Officer to join our team based in Southport on a permanent part time basis. Please note that some flexibility is needed in order to meet operational requirements for this role.

The Family Law Pathways Networks are a means for professionals working within the Family Law system to come together and build better outcomes for families interacting with the system. The Networks facilitate collaboration and coordination between service providers, focussing on information sharing and networking at the local community level.The Project Officer is responsible for undertaking activities on behalf of, and under the guidance of, the Steering Committee.
  
Key Duties:

  • Co-ordination of the Gold Coast Family Law Pathways Network, in consultation with the FLPN Steering Committee.
  • Develop, support and maintain a well-functioning network.
  • Improve collaboration between Gold Coast service providers and organisations operating in the local Family Law system.
  • Ensure that the objectives of the Australian Attorney General’s Department for improved access by separating/separated families to the justice system are met.

  
Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science from a recognised institution (including eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, PACFA or ACA).
  • Well-developed understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act and Family Law Act, as well as the issues and the impacts on families engaged in these systems.
  • Demonstrated articulation of a well-developed practice framework for domestic and family violence and its nexus with child safety, family law, mental health.
  • Well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills.
  • Highly effective communication with strong interpersonal skills, and ability to advocate for our clients’ needs with other statutory organisations/ departments.
  • A high degree of professionalism and integrity in working with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  • An ability to support and work with diverse families with complex needs.
  • Availability for some after-hours work.
  • 2 years’ minimum experience in a similar network development role.
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in the principles and practices of contemporary community development, training, presentation, community education and/or community services and the family law sector appropriate to the role.
  • Strong Project coordination skills with the ability to be both strategic and operational.
  • Proven experience in delivering projects and campaigns on time and within budget and scope.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
  • Previous experience using Google Analytics, Mailchimp, Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin (a working knowledge of Drupal will be highly regarded).

  
Essential requirements for the role:

  • Have a current Blue Card – or be eligible to apply;
  • Have a current driver’s licence;
  • Provide a current Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check or successfully pass one;
  • Have working rights in Australia.
